What is Periodontal Disease
Periodontal disease, also commonly known as gum disease, is primarily caused by the bacteria found in plaque and tartar. Gum diseases, such as gingivitis, can cause irritated or inflamed gums, and if left untreated, gums that pull away from the teeth. If still left untreated, periodontal disease can lead to the loss of bone, tooth, or gum tissue.
The symptoms of gum disease can be difficult to detect, but we invite you to schedule a consultation with Dr. Mario J. Roybal if you are experiencing one or more of the following symptoms:
• Persistent bad breath
• Painful Chewing
• Swollen, tender, or red gums
• Gums that bleed easily
• Receding gums
• Loose teeth
Our friendly dentist will be able to diagnose periodontal disease, and can offer the appropriate treatments.
